Getting the Vitamins & Minerals Your Body Needs
Oct 11, 2022It's imperative that we get the right amount of vitamins & minerals for our bodies to operate at full capacity.
Did you know that minerals comprise approximately 4% of our total body weight?
That's how important they are.
Here are some key vitamins and minerals and their Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for a healthy adult:
Chromium - Important in processing carbohydrates and fats and helping cells respond appropriately to insulin. A safe and adequate daily amount for adults is between 30-200 micrograms.
Copper - Copper is an essential constituent of many important cellular enzymes. A safe and adequate daily amount for adults is 80 milligrams
Potassium - Considered an electrolyte and is found largely inside the cells. A safe and adequate daily amount for adults is 1600 - 2000 milligrams per day, depending on diet.
Sodium - Considered an electrolyte, and is concentrated in the extracellular fluids. A safe and adequate daily amount for adults is 1100 - 3300 milligrams per day. Many adults get enough sodium in their diets and do not require extra supplementation.
Be sure to check with your health care professional before adding additional supplements to your diet.
The best way to determine if you are getting enough vitamins and minerals in your diet is by conducting a hair tissue mineral analysis.
A hair analysis tests 26 different minerals in your body, along with six of the most common heavy metals.
